Almost 4,000 years ago, Mesoamerica was the witness of the establishment of the first Mayan communities in a vast territory that comprises much of what today belongs to Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, El Salvador and the Mexican states of Campeche, Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Tabasco and Yucatan. These ancestral lands hosted one of the most advanced civilizations ever, and they left us a unique legacy that in some cases still remains hidden under the deep jungles of the tropical forests of Central America.
These lands, generous in natural and historical resources, are today the home of many families who are the descendants of those native peoples, who are safeguarding their ancestral culture with care and love in order to show it to those who admire the “Living Cultures”.
P4P, in a consortium with Fundación Plan21, was in charge of developing the marketing plans of the 7 emblematic projects, for the positioning of community tourism in the Mayan World. We evaluated projects representative of five countries and provided a holistic view through a detailed action program based on the 2030 Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Managed by local communities, the seven “Emblematic Projects” selected by the Technical Secretary of the Mundo Maya Organization will carry out the Strategic Marketing Plan that is part of the present project, and later on, they will be able to systematize the experiences which will contribute to position the Mundo Maya Rural Community-based Tourism as one of the world’s leadership in this segment.
The P4P’s team brings expertise in the design, development and execution of Strategic Marketing Plans, including developing marketing and distribution strategies for tourism products and services. It gives the destination and tourism companies a “Glocal” perspective, through the implementation of innovative tools for competitiveness within the framework of sustainability and the SDGs.
