Raising funds for the Mountains of the Moon

The Rwenzori Mountain National Park (RMNP) is one of the lesser funded parks a in Uganda. P4P, working for WWF and in collaboration with UWA and the RMNP staff,  developed a fundraising strategy to ensure overall conservation of the unique RMNP ecosystems. P4P, engaged by the GIZ, conducted a  workshop train CSOs part of BioNet on funding opportunities for conservation, particularly using marketing for conservation of protected areas. This is part of a project to build the capacity of civil society to address conservation issues.

Tourism Offer Rwenzori Mountains National Park

The Rwenzori Mountains have focused its tourism promotion to hiking the only glacier in the Equator. The RMNP does have the potential to attract tourism that will support conservation efforts and community livelihoods based on its rich biodiversity and local culture. P4P assessed the potential of existing products and identified new opportunities with local communities.
