Tourism Offer Rwenzori Mountains National Park

The Rwenzori Mountains have focused its tourism promotion to hiking the only glacier in the Equator. The RMNP does have the potential to attract tourism that will support conservation efforts and community livelihoods based on its rich biodiversity and local culture. P4P assessed the potential of existing products and identified new opportunities with local communities.

Planet 4 People was engaged by WWF Germany to conduct a cruise destination review.  The study gave information about destination readiness to handle the socio-economic and environmental impacts derived from the cruise industry and cruise dependent businesses.

P4P was invited by COHERIT to take part in the Sustainable Heritage Endorsement Programme of the OAS. P4P developed the criteria that would serve as guidelines for the tourism industry and the destinations to implement practices that respect and preserve the cultural heritage of the region.

The value of certification

Ecotourism Ireland engaged P4P to train businesses interested in certification in three areas: understanding the value of certification; getting ready for certification; positioning a certified business in the market place. P4P delivers capacity building and training courses on and off-line.
